Exploring with the amount of visible flower form
In this image I have made the flowers and text very faint, I wanted to explore what could happen to the image if I removed this important information from the frame and created something that draws the viewer to explore the image more closely. I have found that the removal of this information makes the image to confusing when viewed from distance and could actually have the opposite effect and not draw the viewer in due to its confusing composition.

Creating my own wax crayons
For adding text to my images I have been using a store bought white wax crayons. I have decided to experiment creating my own crayons from old pure bees wax candles I have around the house. I will then use these to add text to my images. The reason for exploring this process is to allow for my work to have as many connections to the bees and their hives as possible. I would also like my work to explore my own values I which I am a keen recycler and upcycler. I also think this
Roles of bees within a hive
I have been looking at ways I can incorporate the idea of the bee and bee hive within my final display of work. I have been looking at the different roles of the bee within the hive and how these can been shown visually. I was drawn to the idea of using sizing within my display to show the importance of each role within the hive. The roles are ( see below) The idea of creating a structure which shows the hierarchy of the hive. I will look at ways that this idea of sizing can

Vivienne Westwood- Ecotricity
Whilst looking at alternative applications for my work I came across this Vivienne westwood campaign. She has created crowns to highlight the power unbalance within not only fashion but environmental and political powers. The crowns that encapsulate the notion of green energy and Vivienne Westwood's campaign to switch energy suppliers to Ecotricity. By experimenting with form, materials and technique, she has fashioned these rather striking symbols of power and authority out

Exploring with hand drawn information.
In this image I explored with the removal of the flower forms. I allowed the image to be created just by my interaction with the paper and the papers interaction with my pesticide/developer solution. This has allowed for a very unique interaction of the wax and light, because the wax is lifted above paper level we see the light has created a shadow under the bee image. This has given the image an almost ethereal presence and highlighted the bee in a romantic style. The image

Exploring with wax
Whilst taking inspiration from protest signs I have explored the idea of writing onto my undeveloped images and allowing words to form a new level of interaction between my images and the viewer. I feel by adding a small amount of text to my images I encapsulate what the project is about and make it more accessible to a wider audience. I have also added a hashtag to the image, this adds a modern dimension to my images but also allows for the image to pass on quick information

Raf Simons
Question time with Hideo Hashiura ; What made you open printings.jp? Hideo Hashiura: I opened LAILA VINTAGE in Tokyo 15 years ago, which carries ‘maison brand’ vintage pieces, with the intention of buying pieces with deep history that I’d edit with my own perspective, to continue with the idea of a new approach to fashion. It wasn’t about looking back, but looking forward. Then in 2013, I opened LAILA TOKIO, which focuses specifically on designer garments from the 90s. We col

Exploring protest imagery
Whilst refreshing my information on the current bee crisis I was drawn to images of protest and how they show a real interaction between people and issues. The use of hand written font and images show a very human interaction between two parties which can be lost within computer screens and digital imagery which can desensitise a situation. I need to look at a way of refining this into a working image, the use of hand written text in my image could be a way to make my work mo
Insecticides remain in the farmed environment posing a serious risk to bees.
For the start of this project I am taking some time to revisit my information and make sure the project is as up to date and relevant as possible. I have come across a study that shows the contamination rate has fallen by more than half before the ban – but the study shows that the potent insecticides remain prevalent in the farmed environment and still pose a serious risk to bees and other vital pollinators. Neonicotinoids are the world’s most widely used insecticides and fr
